Merry
Christmas From Prilosec

I guess the makers of Prilosec OTC (heartburn medicine)
wanted to make opening their product similar to opening
lots of presents on Christmas morning. I got this 28
count box of Prilosec over this weekend and could only
shake my head at the idiocy of putting boxes, inside of
boxes, inside of boxes. Maybe this stuff wouldn't cost
so much if they would eliminate all the redundant
packaging. There's at least 3 unnecessary boxes here.

The
owners of this house have done another song/lightshow
which is pretty cool. It's not as good as
the original one they did but still pretty
sweet. Clark Griswald would be proud and whenever I get
my first house....you better believe I'm gonna be doing
this kind of stuff. :-) Check 'em both out!

I
was almost at a loss for words when I ran across this...The
Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club. This guy is not
only a member...he's the president. And judging from
this photo....probably very lonely! The have a whole
website for people who collect vacuum cleaners, a
quarterly newsletter and even have an annual convention.
Their news page is pretty cool too! I'm joining
today!.........NOT!

My
First PHP Script

Comment On This Post
Note: This post will mean nothing to most of you but
some of my fellow tech geeks will appreciate it.
I've been learning a new
programming language as of late and wrote my first PHP
script last nite. I'm working on website for a
restaurant and they wanted to rotate their daily special
on their homepage. I had already built the rest of the
site using PHP includes and decided to try writing a PHP
script to rotate the daily special.
It took me several hours
to get it write because I was actually putting too many
commands in it (echo & print) but once I simplified it,
it started working like a charm. I guess less is more!
Here's the script for anyone that ever wants to rotate
html content on a daily basis. Enjoy Nerds!
<?php
if( date( 'w' ) == 0 ) {
//its sunday
?>
<div>html for sunday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 1 ) {
//its monday
?>
<div>html for monday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 2 ) {
//its tuesday
?>
<div>html for tuesday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 3 ) {
//its wednesday
?>
<div>html for wednesday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 4 ) {
//its thursday
?>
<div>html for thursday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 5 ) {
//its friday
?>
<div>html for friday special</div>
<?
}
if( date( 'w' ) == 6 ) {
//its saturday
?>
<div>html for saturday special</div>

}

Just
Great....I'm Sick!

Comment On This Post
Well I guess being around the "infected" holiday crowds
over the weekend has caused me to come down with
something. I'm not sure if it's just a really bad cold
or the flu yet but either way...I'm sick. That's what I
get for going around actual people...ha-ha!
That's another advantage
I've enjoyed by working from home. I rarely come into
contact with the general public and all their germs and
as such, I haven't been sick in years. I wonder if I'm
going to turn into one of those old guys whose obsessed
with germs? I already wash my hands like 20 times a day.
LOL!
Anyway...I'm not bed ridden yet and will be at my post
(the pc) tomorrow.

I'm
a HUGE fan of
Family Guy and this next video is a fine
example of the kind of low brow humor that is so funny.
It's Peter Griffin singing some holiday songs that he
clearly doesn't know the words to.
Very funny...I only wish it was longer.

It's
NOT The Virgin Mary

Comment On This Post
Everyone knows how I feel about the stupidity of the
Muslim religion but I need to give some equal time to
delusions of "some" Catholics this week. For the life of
me I can't figure out why people are always seeing The
Virgin Mary in taco salads, grilled cheese sandwiches or
in weirdly formed bark patterns like the picture below.
IT'S NOT THE VIRGIN MARY! It's not a sign of anything.
It doesn't have healing powers and it can't answer your
prayers. It's just a tree.

As many of you may have seen over the weekend, I had some
falling snow on my webpage, but it had to go...at least
for the time being. The java script which made it work
conflicted with my rotating pictures and made them stop
rotating. I'll see if I can find another one when I get
a chance. |

After a loooooong weekend of holiday decorating and
shopping, we finally crashed on the sofa Sunday night
and watched one of our new holiday favorites
Elf
starring Will Ferrell. Kinda like the
Rudolph special
and
Christmas Vacation, it's not really Christmas until
you've seen your favorite holiday movies. |

Decorating The Tree (And Other Stuff)
Posted by Jimmy :: Monday,

Comment On This Post
After
getting the tree up Saturday night, we spent Sunday
night decorating it and putting up some of our other
Christmas decor. We decided to go for an eclectic look
on our tree this year using every ornament of every
style we have. The main thing we decided was not to use
garland so we have to buy some more ornaments to fill
out the tree some more.
Kim also set up our
Rudolph scene...you know...from the
Rudolph special that
comes on every year. That was always my favorite
Christmas show each year and we'll be watching it very
soon on DVD. |

A

This
is our second year without our good friend Poochie and
we put up a little tree in memory of him this year.
There's not a day that goes by that we don't think about
our old friend and pulling out all of "his" ornaments certainly
stirs up a lot of emotions.
We really miss him. |

Putting Up The Tree
Posted by Jimmy :: Sunday,

Comment On This Post
True
to my word, I wasted no time in putting up the tree this
year. The only part of Thanksgiving I was looking
forward to was the day after so I could start decorating
for my favorite holiday. Our tree is one of those
pre-lit (and spinning) ones which takes like 10 minutes
to put together and two hours to fluff out. My hands and
arms were raw by the end of the night.
Someone was trying to be
a Grinch this year and didn't even want to put up a tree
but that "someone" came around in the end. I'm pretty
sure she'll be in the Christmas spirit once she sees her
presents piling up under the tree. :-) |

Spring
Cleaning In December
Posted by Jimmy :: Sunday,
November 27th, 2005 :: 11:45 PM PST ::
Comment On This Post
Much to Kim's chagrin, I insisted on getting the
Christmas tree out this weekend but some good became of
it. Since it was such a nice day outside and we rarely
dig through all our stuff in storage, we decided to
do some "spring cleaning" while we were digging out the
tree. We spent most of the daylight hours weeding out
junk and who knows, we may even have a yard sale next
weekend.
Five years ago during out
first Christmas, we were freezing our tails off in
twenty degree weather (in Virginia of course) picking
out our first tree and here in California we were
breaking a sweat in shorts and tees. I certainly don't
miss the cold, that much is for sure. |

News In Washington

Comment On This Post
The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a
Nativity Scene in Washington, DC this Christmas season.
This isn't for any religious reason; they simply have
not been able to find three wise men and a virgin in the
Nation's capitol.
There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to
fill the stable.

Honda's "PC" Christmas Commercial
Posted by Jimmy :: Sunday,
November 27th, 2005 :: 11:39 PM PST ::
Comment On This Post
I
was watching TV this weekend and saw a Honda commercial
where they had changed the words of "We wish you a Merry
Christmas" to "We wish you a Happy Holiday". Another
example of political correctness gone too far. How
arrogant is it for a Japanese auto maker to advertise
during a Christian based holiday but change the words of
a Christmas carol so as not to offend anyone who's not a
Christian? That makes about as much sense as Hugh Hefner
throwing a Ramadan party at the Playboy mansion.

Fulla,
The Muslim Barbie
Posted by Jimmy :: Sunday,
November 27th, 2005 :: 11:33 PM PST ::
Comment On This Post
I
found this rather amusing but also very sad. The Muslim
world has apparently had enough of infidel Barbie and
thus came up with Fulla, the Muslim alternative...shown
here wearing her "outdoor" fashion. I'm actually
surprised they allowed her face to be shown because in
most hard-core Islamic nations, a woman showing her face
in public "justifies" her being beaten in the street
like a sub-human animal. If her husband Osama "Ken"
Laden catches her disobeying Allah's commands, this Fulla doll is likely to have lots of bruises under all
that clothing.
Muslims are so stupid!

Preacher Gets Punched
Posted by Jimmy :: Sunday,

Comment On This Post
Several
of my east coast peeps told me about this last week and
it just showed up on the web. During a live TV
broadcast, some guy motions for this preacher to come
forward and then punches him right in the face. I have
no idea what his motive was at this point so don't
bother asking me. He's not a Catholic priest so that
pretty much rules out revenge for child molestation.
(If you don't wanna see a preacher get punched, then
don't watch this)

Yes, we looked at rings this past weekend but there
won't be any "big news" until sometime in 2006. In other
words, don't be expecting anything when we come home for
Christmas this year. We just started looking and
if there's one thing we never do, it's make major
purchases in a hurry. We will be taking our time and
finding the "perfect ring" so again, look for news on
that front in 2006.
(We're already married in our hearts and have been for a
loooooong time!)

The
Red Dot Explained (I Should Have Known)
Posted by Jimmy :: Monday,

Comment On This Post
For
centuries, Hindu women have worn a red spot (known as a
bindi) on their foreheads. We have always naively
thought that it had something to do with their religion.
The true story has recently been revealed by the Indian
Embassy in Washington, DC.
When a Hindu woman gets married, she brings with her a
dowry. On her wedding night, the husband scratches off
the red spot to see if he has won either a convenience
store, a gas station, a donut shop, or a motel in the
United States.
