Crazy Clouds
Posted by Jimmy: Friday, July 22nd, 2005 :: 11:16 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Check out these crazy clouds in Nebraska. (see link below) There's several shots of these creepy looking clouds which are called mammatus clouds and contrary to popular belief do not mean tornados or violent weather is eminent. Mammatus clouds actually show up after the worst part of a storm has passed and the weather system is weakening.

Longhorn Becomes Windows Vista
Posted by Jimmy: Friday, July 22nd, 2005 :: 11:16 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Microsoft finally announced the name of it's forthcoming operating system earlier today. Formerly known by insiders and tech geeks like me as Longhorn, it was renamed Vista and announced to the public on Friday. Of course, only the name was released. Beta (test) versions won't be available for another month and the actual operating system won't be available to the public until late 2006. I'm actually not a huge fan of the new name but hopefully the wait will be worth it...not that XP Pro hasn't been the most reliable OS I've ever used so far. Hopefully they won't screw it up.

Here's an interesting find...go to Google, do a search for ass, and guess who pops up as the # 2 result? Why it's the Democratic Party of course. I wonder if that's because they're full of....well, you can figure the rest out. :^P

Pimp Your Name
Posted by Jimmy: Thursday, July 21st, 2005 :: 6:36 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Even though I'm not a fan of the whole "pimp" lifestyle this was still a little fun to do. According to this site I'm Ice Master Jimmy Fresh but my original pimp name back in the Seven Oaks days was Jimbo The Superjock. Inside joke.

So anyway, see what your pimp name is...

A little boy asks his father - Daddy, how was I born?

Dad responds, "Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway so here goes..."

"Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on MSN. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little Popup appeared and said: You've got male!"

Congrats To Lori & David
Posted by Jimmy: Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 :: 8:06 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Congratulations to Lori Myers and David Ashwell on their recent engagement. I think the news actually reached me while I was in Cali last week but it was confirmed at Lakefest. I didn't get a chance to run into Lori or meet her fiancé David but since I know she checks my site often..."Congrats Lori!"

Lakefest 2005: Drink, Be Merry!
Posted by Jimmy: Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 :: 4:00 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Lakefest 2005...another year of drinking, partying, and general debauchery. Actually, Lakefest was a little more subdued than in years past but we still had a lot of fun. Here's a few pics from Friday night where we mostly partied down in Stacy & Beth's room where Dave Chappel skits seemed to be the theme of the evening. We spent the whole night laughing about Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories and screaming "Drink, Be Merry!"

These are pics from Friday night...Saturday's pictures will arrive soon...so don't be upset if you're not in this batch.

Happy Birthday Ritchie Brown
Posted by Jimmy: Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 :: 3:33 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Happy Birthday wishes going out to Ritchie Brown this week. His birthday was Monday and I'm assuming he considered Lakefest his b-day party. Here he is Saturday night cruising out on the lake before the fireworks show. If you're looking to do something for Ritchie, I hear he's a big fan of eating at the Pizza Hut in South Boston. Ask him about it!

The NRA Sucks
Posted by Jimmy: Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 :: 3:27 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

I know a lot of gun owners out there won't like this post at all but hear me out because I myself am a gun owner.

The NRA is one of those political powerhouses that thinks all Americans should be able to purchase as many guns as they like. They think any American should be able to buy any type of gun they like and they use their political muscle ($$$$) to insure that good legislation never passes thus making America a less safe place for all of us.

The NRA recently pulled it's annual convention out of Columbus, Ohio because the city passed a ban on semiautomatic weapons with with pistol grips and detachable magazines...you know, the kind criminals, drug dealers and gang members prefer. I honestly think this shows that the NRA isn't concerned with the "right to bear arms" as the framers of the constitution intended. I suspect if the NRA had it's way, it would be perfectly legal for anyone to buy a shoulder fired missile or rocket propelled grenade launchers.

Americans do not need assault rifles and machine guns. There are already enough hand guns in this country for every man, woman and child to be have a gun in each hand at all times and that's already too many damn guns without putting more powerful guns on the streets of America.

I grew up in Virginia where hunting is a very popular sport and my Dad hunted, I hunted, my best friend and lots of other people hunted. We all own guns but we all know how to use them and are responsible, law-abiding citizens. I took gun training in my youth and I still have my gun to this day. If anyone ever breaks into my home I know how to use my guy and have the willingness to use it to defend myself, my loved ones and my property....but I don't need an AK-47 to do it.

America has more gun-related deaths each year than all the rest of the world combined and the NRA is always pushing for the rights for Americans to own more powerful guns and in greater quantities. That's just stupid and before any of you gun nuts say "guns don't kill people, people kill people" let me submit the following statement to you: criminals with guns kill people, stupid people with guns kill people, gang members with guns kill people, drug dealers with guns kill people...you get the idea.

I don't think owning a gun should be a right anyway...it should be a privilege. People should be required to not only pass a background check but also an aptitude test before purchasing a gun. If you did, a lot less people would have guns and a lot less people would die as a result.

The NRA is bad for America.

I also think that everyone should have to pass an aptitude test before voting as well. Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

My Week In SoBo: The Review
Posted by Jimmy: Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 :: 2:11 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

So I was on the East coast last week for both business and pleasure and I could sum up my whole trip in one word....HOT! Even though I grew up in Virginia and know what summers are like there, it was still hard to get used to after 4 years of living here in Cali where there's no humidity. I spent the better part of Thursday and Friday meeting with different businesses in downtown SoBo for a website I'm working on and damn it was HOT!

Did I mention it was HOT?!?

My Adorable Little Niece Alex

One of the highlights of my trip was getting to see my family and my little niece Alex who I'm totally in love with even though I'm don't know if I could ever deal with diapers. I showered her with a bunch of gifts and played with her as much as I could while I was there and I'm already looking forward to seeing her next Christmas.

Disconnect

Being away from pc, my DSL and my digital phone service was a painful experience. Luckily my phone let me piggy-back on the local carrier's signal but half of my digital phone services wouldn't work and I'm sure I managed to run up and impressive roaming bill while in SoBo. Not looking forward to getting my cell phone bill next month.

I Need Help

Even though Stellar Media Group was officially closed during my trip my phone was blowing up all hours of the day from everyone needing everything. It's nearly impossible for me to take a single day off anymore without someone having an "emergency" i.e., forgetting their email password or having a fit because they can't have some trivial web update done right away. I'm gonna have to hire someone to just answer phone and emails everyday or I'll never be able to take another vacation. I have so much work to do after only a few days away that right now I'm ready to just bang my head into the pc like this crazy guy!

The Best Part of My Trip

By far the best part of my trip was coming home to Kim. She picked me up after I landed at the airport and we both hugged each other like it had been months. If just a few days apart makes us miss each other that much then I don't think we have anything to worry about...not that I ever have! :^)
